Annual Report: 2011

Fiscal Year 2011 was a year marked by innovation at the Office of Lottery and Charitable Games. With the introduction of a new, state-of-the-art gaming system, DC Lottery leveraged its products and business acumen to deliver profits to the city and entertainment value to its customers. Annual Report: 2010

Fiscal Year 2010 was a year of transition and a prelude to innovation for the Office of Lottery and Charitable Games. Led by new Executive Director Buddy Roogow, a longtime lottery industry professional, the agency launched new games, strengthened its retailer base, and formed partnerships that aided the mission of the DC Lottery to generate revenue for the District of Columbia General Fund.

Annual Report: 2009

In Fiscal Year 2009, the Office of Lottery and Charitable Games transferred $68.8 million to the city’s General Fund. These monies were used to support important initiatives in education, public safety, health, human services, and economic development. Further proof that Lots of People Win with the DC Lottery is that fiscal year 2009 produced record winnings by our players, the introduction of new and exciting games, and an expansion of our charitable gaming franchise.

Annual Report: 2008

In Fiscal Year 2008, the Office of Lottery and Charitable Games transferred $70.3 million to the city’s General Fund, generated revenue of $253.3 million, awarded our valued players $135.0 million in prizes, and helped local nonprofits raise $4.7 million in support of social causes. It was a winning year, but not without challenges.

Annual Report: 2007

The Office of Lottery and Charitable Games celebrated 25 years of being D.C.'s Best Bet during fiscal year 2007 in which the agency generated $257.8 million in revenue and transferred $65.4 million to the city's General Fund. In total, since its inception in August of 1982, the DC Lottery has transferred over $1.4 billon to the District's treasury. Since the DC Lottery opened for business, lucky players have also won more than $2.3 billion in prizes.

Annual Report: 2006

The Office of Lottery and Charitable Games is pleased to present its fiscal year 2006 annual report, which covers October 1, 2005 – September 30, 2006. In FY ’06, the agency ended the year with record sales of $266.2 million and players winning $146.6 million – the highest amount ever won by DC Lottery players since ticket sales began in August of 1982. The DC Lottery also transferred $73.8 million to the city’s General Fund and licensed almost 150 non-profit organizations to hold charitable gaming events in which they collectively raised $4.8 million during the fiscal year to support programs and services for those in need.

The Office of Lottery and Charitable Games is pleased to present its annual report for fiscal year 2005, October 1, 2004 – September 30, 2005. In 2005, the agency made invaluable contributions to the District of Columbia by transferring $71.4 million to the city’s General Fund and helping non-profit organizations raise $4.6 million through charitable gaming.

For the second consecutive fiscal year, the Office of Lottery and Charitable Games achieved record sales. We ended 2004 with $241.3 million in revenue and transferred $73.5 million to the District of Columbia's General Fund.

Fiscal Year 2003, October 1, 2002 – September 30, 2003, was a record breaking year for the Office of Lottery and Charitable Games. We set a milestone as sales reached a new high of $237.2 million. We also transferred $72.0 million to the District of Columbia’s General Fund, exceeding the budgeted transfer by $3.4 million.

"Match 3," the DC Lottery’s first game, went on sale August 25, 1982. The Instant "scratch" ticket was an immediate hit with one month of sales totaling $15.8 million. Now, 20 years later, the Lottery has transferred more than $1.1 billion to the District of Columbia’s General Fund and assisted nonprofit organizations in raising more than $80 million for charitable causes.

Fiscal Year 2001 was a winning year for Washingtonians. The Office of Lottery and Charitable Games transferred $84 million to the General Fund of the District of Columbia. The near record transfer was made possible by $224.8 million in gaming revenue that generated $11.6 million in commissions for Lottery agents. This major contribution by the DC Lottery, in its 19th year of operation, helped the Nation’s Capital maintain its economic vitality, while enabling our city to prepare for the future.
